Having staged an extremely successful Formula 1 event - the first ever in the Middle East - the Bahraini Minister of Sport and Youth, HE Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khalifa, wanted to use the success of this event to further build relations with the international sports world and turned to TSE Consulting for advice on how to attract major sports events to Bahrain.
Having conducted several sports management courses in Bahrain during 2002 and 2003, TSE was aware of the commitment of the Bahrain Ministry of Sport and Youth to develop sport in the Kingdom.
It could, however, be assumed that many international sports organisations, did not have a similar understanding of the plans and dedication of the Bahraini Government. TSE therefore organised, managed and facilitated a visit by HE Sheikh Fawaz to Lausanne in order to meet with representatives of International Federations and in general to promote the sports plans of Bahrain.
The results: Over a few days HE Sheikh Fawaz met with representatives of 15 different International Federations, negotiated agreements for several international events to be staged in Bahrain and established a range of high level contacts. In addition the visit to Lausanne of HE Sheik Fawaz received massive media coverage in newspapers and on television right in the heart of the "Olympic Capital".
