The brief
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), as part of their ambitious sporting plans, wanted to bid for the Men's 2015 Handball World Championships. Working together with the QOC and the Qatar Handball Federation, TSE Consulting was engaged to assist in the development of a campaign strategy for the bid that covered all communication aspects needed in order to present a convincing case to the Council Members of the International Handball Federation, IHF.
Our response
Following a workshop in Doha with key members of the Qatar 2015 bid team, a solid campaign strategy was developed that focused on Qatar's unique ability to develop Handball worldwide in an innovative and new way.
With such a tight race, it was important to launch a very intense communication plan, reaching out to voting members of the IHF worldwide through personal letters, modern electronic newsletters and creative brochures and press releases all carefully designed to communicate the key messages of the bid. As part of the innovation of the bid, TSE developed the first ever iPad bid book that showcased the bid in a new, creative and interactive way.
TSE developed the final presentation and worked together with the bid team in Malmö, Sweden in the final days before the vote to ensure it was executed in a thoughtful and yet impactful way.
Up against some strong competitors, France, Norway and Poland, Qatar secured a majority vote in the first round and was granted the rights to host the 2015 Men's Handball World Championship - the first ever Handball Championship in the Middle East.
