Over the coming years, health and climate will be the two topics that are central to discussions and initiatives taking place in governments around the world.
While it is obvious that sport can and must play an important role in promoting a healthy and active lifestyle and thus improving health, what about the environment - should sport take responsibility in dealing with climate change and protecting the environment? We think yes.

Whether it is responsibility, or just good sense, sport should take an active role in demonstrating leadership and showcasing best practices when it comes to environmental issues.

Sports, through their highly media attractive events, have a great opportunity - and we would even go as far as saying an obligation - to demonstrate best practices, not only in fair and clean competition, but also in areas like protecting the environment and in general focusing attention on the issues that are important to the world in general. Moreover, environmental issues are primarily focused on ensuring preservation for future generations and sport is uniquely positioned to reach out to and inspire young people.

Sport is about moving, so let's keep going - going green!

The growing importance of environmental sustainability in sport

It is increasingly clear that sport organisations cannot deny or avoid the importance of the preservation of the environment when public authorities and non-governmental organisations use the visibility of major sport events to transmit powerful messages about sustainability and conservation.
