TSE congratulates its client the Qatar Olympic Committee on its win to host the 2019 IAAF World Championships
The IAAF, during its Council Meeting in Monaco, awarded Doha the right to host the 2019 IAAF World Championships. This was the second time Doha bid for the event, having lost out to London in a close race for the 2017 edition.
TSE Consulting supported the 2019 Doha bid committee throughout the bid process, consulting on various aspects including the development of the technical file and the final presentation made to the IAAF Council. TSE Consulting has also assisted the Qatar Olympic Committee in its win to host the 2015 World Handball Championships and the 2016 UCI Road Cycling Championships.
HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Secretary General, Qatar Olympic Committee, said: “We are very honoured to be awarded the IAAF World Championships. First, we want to thank Eugene and Barcelona for the great race and friendship. We have made a promise to the IAAF and we will work tiredlessly to deliver a great event in 2019. We are delighted that this will be the first time the Championships goes to the region. It will provide tremendous opportunities for the future of the sport.”
Greg Curchod, Director, TSE Consulting, said: “This is a great moment for the Qatar Olympic Committee and Qatar Athletics. The team has worked very hard and it is great to see this work pay off. This win is an acknowledgement to the dedication of Qatar towards sport in general, and athletics specifically.”
Doha was against strong competition from Eugene, USA and Barcelona, Spain.
