TSE congratulates Lausanne 2020
TSE extends its congratulations to our long term client and partner, the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud, in their successful bid to host the 2020 Youth Winter Olympic Games.
The IOC announced their decision at the 128th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur. The winning Lausanne bid saw off strong competition from Brasov, Romania.
TSE was heavily involved with the bid right from the outset, supporting the bid team throughout. TSE consulted on various aspects of the bid development including strategy, communications and messaging, activation, international relations, completion of the technical file and final presentation.
The decision marks the first time that an Olympic Games will take place in Switzerland since the St. Moritz Winter Olympic Games in 1948. The Lausanne 2020 project involves a wide range of exciting and innovative initatives aimed at reimagining and redefining the Olympic values for the youth of the world today. Lausanne is also officially recognised as the Olympic Capital as well as being known across the world as the home of international sport, with over 50 international sporting organisations calling the area home.
Denis Pittet, Secretary General of the committee of candidature: “It is an immense source of joy and great pride for all of us to see that the hard work we carried out was well received by the IOC and its members. Our message, which was to highlight our 100 years of shared history with the IOC and to transmit it to the youth of the world in an intelligent and friendly way with our partners from the heart of the Olympic Capital was understood. Now the most interesting part starts: to organize these Olympic Games!”
Greg Curchod, Director at TSE Central in Lausanne remarked “This is a wonderful moment for everyone involved in the bid. It is the result of an incredible level of sustained effort and hard work from the entire team. We are really looking forward to what should be an incredible occasion for the City, the Canton and the whole of Switzerland.”
