Bob Bowman, coach of USA Swimming
legend Michael Phelps, has joined TSE Consulting, the international consulting
firm specialised in sport. Bowman is joining as a Consultant in TSE's Sports
Performance division.
TSE Consulting announced today that Bob Bowman, the
renowned American swimming coach, will be joining TSE's Sports
Performance division. Bowman, most notably known as Michael Phelps' coach from
1996 to 2012, was the assistant coach for the US Olympic swimming team in 2004,
2008 and 2012.
He recently won his fifth American
Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Coach of the Year Award, making him the
most honoured coach in the 41 years of the award. Bowman's accomplishments as a
coach in 2012 including putting Michael Phelps on his fourth Olympic team
and Allison Schmitt on her second Games squad. There, Phelps and Schmitt
combined for 11 Olympic medals. Phelps won six (four gold, two silver) while
Schmitt won five (three gold, one silver, one bronze).
Bowman will join TSE as a Consultant in
TSE's Sport Performance division. The division, launched in 2009, is headed by
Steve Roush, former Chief of Sports Performance at the US Olympic
Committee, where he oversaw a period of record success for USA's Olympians.
TSE's Sports Performance division provides services to National Olympic
Committees and Government agencies involved in supporting elite sports
programmes. Projects have included, among others; a review of Russia's
performance following the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and the
on-going development of sports performance plans for the Brazilian
National Olympic Committee as they head towards the 2016 Games.
